About this course
The possibilities in digital dentistry have profoundly changed the clinical practice of prosthetic dentistry.
Most prosthetic single unit restorations are produced digitally – while many dentists still base their clinical practice on analogue production procedures. The use of intraoral scanners offers dentists the opportunity to take advantage of the many benefits of digital applications in prosthetic dentistry.
In this 1-day course, you will acquire the necessary knowledge of the technology behind the intraoral scanners and how the technology affects clinical procedures in prosthetic dentistry.
The course will cover all aspects of the digital production line from abutment preparation strategies, clinical use of the IO scanner to clinical decision making on suitable restorative materials for the digital production line.
The exercises will focus on single-unit restorations, and the participants will have the opportunity to practice the preparations in microscopes before learning how to do an optimized intraoral scan. Scan strategies for veneers, tooth retained bridges and implant-retained restorations will be demonstrated and the participants will have the opportunity to practice on available intraoral scanners.
Novel approaches on how to integrate a mock-up of the desired restorations into the IO scan will be demonstrated. Other useful functionalities in the scanners such as preparation undercuts and space measurements, colour matching and photo integration will be taught.
All participants will be trained individually in advanced simulation units where they will perform tooth preparations and subsequently perform an intraoral scan of the abutments.
What is offered during the 1-day program:
- 8 hours of theoretical lecture and hands-on practice
- Each participant has its working station and individual instruments and devices
- Access to intraoral scanners for personalized training in scanning strategies
- A customized microscope for each participant (Zeiss or Global) with HD camera and individual monitors
- 3D microscopic demonstration
- All instruments and materials used during the course
- Scrubs will be provided for each day
- Lunch and coffee/snacks
