About this course

Prosthodontics is the branch of dentistry that deals with the replacement of teeth and the associated hard and soft tissues by prostheses.

The field is in rapid development driven by technological advances as well as the public’s expectations towards the treatment we deliver. There is as well a strong trend towards more conservative tooth-preserving prosthetic treatments using modern materials.

A thorough clinical examination and placing a correct diagnosis will increase the probability for a successful patient outcome. This online course will cover necessary treatment planning procedures, diagnostics, as well as how we can use modern technology to establish common treatment goals with our patients.

The combination of modern clinical technology and proper treatment approaches, utilizing the latest materials and manufacturing technologies, will increase the chance of a successful treatment result.

This online course will through theoretical lectures and live demonstrations give you an understanding of basic functionalities of the intraoral scanner and how to use the scanner in both the planning phase, execution of prosthetic treatment as well as how to unlock the potential in modern prosthetic materials and manufacturing technologies.

Prosthodontic treatment will, in most cases imply the insertion of a prosthesis in the patient’s mouth. Intraoral scanning and digital manufacturing technologies have the potential to achieve a perfect fit between the prosthesis and tooth. This online course will give you clinical guidelines and tips on tissue handling as well as how to achieve tooth preparation margins which are optimized for a perfect fit between tooth and restoration and thus the longevity our patients demand.
